Though for us that will be a visit to nearby Honfleur.Continue reading “August 12: Le Havre, France (for Paris)”
No ports today. The ship is now on Paris time, and anyone who forgot to reset their clocks until we cross the time zone line and they reset automatically, is late to everything.Continue reading “August 11: At Sea”
We gave serious thought to Not going off ship today. We’ve had a lot of port days in a row (which I love usually) and excursions every day (again, that’s generally fine as well) but they’ve also all been early mornings. And often, all day-ers.Continue reading “August 10: Queensferry (Edinburgh), Scotland”
Back at home a warrant is served at MarALago — the news of which makes S late again this morning — but here in Scotland we have an all-day excursion around Inverness, including to see Loch Ness.Continue reading “August 9: Invergordon, Scotland”
The forecast was for rain and cold all day. But by the time the morning rolls around, it’s pushed off to midday or later. Our tour only runs to 1:30pm, so this is promising.Continue reading “August 8: Kirkwall, Orkney Islands, Scotland”

For those who want to ride across to Edinburgh for the Tattoo, that’s an option. S and I are scheduled to see the Highlands. A bit of a timing misunderstanding rushes our breakfast but we get to the tour on time to hop on our bus for a rainy day in Scotland.Continue reading “August 6: Greenock (Glasgow), Scotland”
Up today: Giant’s Causeway and the Antrim Coast.
It’s another early morning, and I didn’t sleep well. But I nod off for a few minutes on the bus between the tea and lunch stops, before we get up to the coastline.Continue reading “August 5: Belfast, Northern Ireland”
Inauspicious beginnings. I’m up hours earlier than breakfast will arrive, sensor lights kicking on and off as the hangers in my closet swing and the TV rattles ominously in the bracket as we anchor off the coast of Guernsey.Continue reading “August 2: Guernsey”
Flight delays are not an unusual event these days. My delayed takeoff is not unbearable.Continue reading “Getting “across the pond””
