Reading Wednesday: Infinitely Stalled

Well it’s another short list this week because I spent much of the week starting Infinite Jest.

I am a fairly fast reader but after 6 days I had only got 14% done. I recently started listening to a new podcast called Overdue and in describing another book that is about as long as Infinite Jest, they said that the difference is that (this other long book) wants to be read, while Infinite Jest does not.

Of course I wasn’t only reading that one book – only because I literally could not. So here is what else I read, either alongside to refresh my brain, or after I returned it to the library because I’m sorry but no. Life is too short and that book is too long.

This week’s list:

  • A Room with a View (Forster)
  • Breaking Point (Box)

Why were most big things unladylike! Charlotte had once explained to her why. It was not that ladies were inferior to men; it was that they were different. Their mission was to inspire others to achievement rather than to achieve themselves.

A Room With a View

Yeah. Call me irked by the sentiments of yesteryear. Or yesterday, depending who you talk to.

I would also have read the next Joe Pickett book by CJ Box but some loser has had it tied up in the library for more than a month and it’s not expected back for another month which isn’t even realistic. I read Breaking Point in less than 24 hours. Plus I mean… there is a max 21 day loan period. I was #2 in line this time last month and I’m somehow still #2 in line and no closer to getting the book.

That math doesn’t even remotely add up. What the actual hell?

Hell had broken open, and hundreds of bureaucrats were gushing out.

Breaking Point

Anyway that means I’ll find something else to read this coming week.
