Not being a blacksmith — or a laundress for that matter — I’m less worried about the heat of the iron but in this case, the oven is hot. And I’m making the most of it.
The roast rescued from the bottom of the freezer is in there now, slowly turning back into food.
Pasta sauce simmers in the slow cooker. I’ll make pasta for it later.
Leftover roast chicken — mixed with vegetables, gravy, and stuffing — is transformed into single-meal bowls.
When I’m done, the fridge is stacked with dinners and lunches… easy meals to microwave at convenience, for all the other days when I feel completely uninterested in making meals.
Which happens just often enough lately that I needed to strike while the oven was hot.

I do believe your dinner is giving you the bird.
