Coming up: More Cruising

I don’t know that I would have chosen this cruise. It wasn’t going anywhere I hadn’t been, really. But you know, Scandinavia was not necessarily S’s top choice and when we booked it back in 2019 for 2020 sailing, plus that was initially kind of spendy. and she came anyway.

So if this next cruise isn’t a hot spot for me, I can at least say that it’s all interesting places, and remarkably affordable.

1. I still had my flight voucher from the cancelled Scandinavia cruise. That made the out of pocket for this trip, even with the cost of fuel, barely more than a short domestic flight.

2. Hotel points. I love Hilton Honors, yo. We use those points so dang much. I probably would not think they were a good deal if I traveled on the West Coast a lot – on my Pacific Northwest trip I discovered that Hilton properties were few and far between. But in most of the rest of the USA, and many other places in the world, the points can equal a stay. And points earned on things I had to buy anyway? Priceless!

3. Cruise deals. It was a summer of crazy offers including a couple where it was literally cheaper to sail in separate rooms than to share. In side by side cabins, which meant all the privacy but also all the convenience of being a soft-knock-on-the-wall away from hanging out together.

So with that in mind, we’re plotting and planning to head off again!
