Virtual AT: Not quite a walk in the woods

Doing this challenge virtually, pedaling away in the basement… this is not really the experience by any stretch of the imagination.

However, I had bought a copy of Bill Bryson’s A Walk in the Woods. And I’ve been saving up to read it while I do this virtual challenge.

And at about 1/3 of the way so far, I’ll just say what I would say about all of his books I’ve read so far:

Highly recommend!

Screen shot from my Kindle …. I do not have permission to show this cover but I’m hoping the publisher won’t mind because if you’ve ever considered the AT in real life, or virtually, or just like hearing about people trying slightly crazy undertakings “just because” then you should probably BUY THIS BOOK; ITS SO ENJOYABLE .

It’s because of this book that I know that Clingman’s Dome (which I recently posted a photo from) is the highest point on the AT. Kind of fun context as I pass virtual landmarks, to hear how getting to them may be experienced IRL.

Well, back I get to it.
