The day had been bright and clear, hardly a cloud in the sky.
So the suddenness of the night’s thunderstorm takes me by surprise.
One moment I am drifting towards sleep, and the next the sound of the rain drowns out even the white noise doodad.
Checking the forecast, I see that it’s only supposed to last this hour.
So I guess it’s best to just batten down the hatches and hang on for this hour.
And try to get some sleep. Wind and rain permitting.
