More travel inspired cake

Because not every kitchen adventure need be inspired by my African virtual trek…

And because sometimes a person just really wants to bake a cake…

And because one of my favorite things when my parents and I went to our luau on the Big Island of Hawaii was the passion fruit (lilikoi) cake…

And I had cake mix, passion fruit yogurt, and (by some miracle) eggs…

Frosting is butter, passion fruit jelly and confectioners sugar. Sweet!

Cake success! Probably it would have been even better with simple buttercream icing instead of passion fruit. Or a mix of regular buttercream and passion fruit frosting.

But, still good.

Not as good as when we had the real thing in Hawaii.

But quite nice even so.
