faith, flotsam, there is something wrong with me

Uh oh – Ow

After all that raking, I was more aware of my back muscles, but I wasn’t ‘in pain’.

I went to bed that night like I would any other night.

I did not wake up like any morning.

On the contrary, I woke up briefly in the smallish hours with my back twinging just a bit. But I stretched a bit and fell back to sleep…

Fitful sleep, but sleep nonetheless.

Then I woke for real – still early, and with my back really sore.

My jaw, too. Apparently I’d been gritting my teeth against the pain.

Slow flexes and stretches while horizontal.

Ow. Uh. Ok. Maybe I should get up.

Uh. Oh. Ow.

Maybe I can sort of roll up and out of bed?

The good news is that I got my feet out under me so that I did not land on my face. Win!

The bad news is how much it hurt.

So… probably some light yoga poses should make the agenda today to get things stretched out?

But first, up and dressed and Advil … and prayer and quiet time and coffee and church … and time for the pain reliever to work its medical magic.

Meanwhile – I realize that this pain is fresh and new and top of mind for me. But it’s also most likely temporary and short-lived. Many people deal with back pain on the regular.

Like, this, awful as it is, is someone’s normal.

Praying, in Jesus’ name, for healing grace, for comfort and mercy today, from God our Father, for those who are hurting.

“He said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.'”
(Mark 5:34)

“Lord my God,
I called to you for help,
and you healed me.”
(Psalm 30:2)

Thanks be to God who heals us of our sin
and our suffering, by His own great grace!
