The “big thing” for today is a helitour – her first – over Western Maui and Molokai.
We get there way too early but since we’ve got our bearings, we drive straight up into the island until the road gets narrow and winding (whoa-pa!) and D is almost starting to feel-less-than-good from it so we turn back. By the time we get back to check in for our flight she is feeling better and we’re ready to fly!
We soar over waterfalls, valleys that are only accessible by air, then across a vividly blue sea to less developed Molokai. More lush valleys, jet skis tracing white trails into the ocean, tiny parasails in rainbow colors along the shoreline.
But it’s almost too peaceful after we get off the ground – my sweet girl is fighting sleep.
Back on the ground we head into Lahaina town to try a Dole Whip and a bit of shopping. We get cleaned up and set aside some quiet time, then head out to dinner at a marketplace that’s walking distance from our resort.
We eat outside at a cafe where we can watch the sunset, I get the fish and chips made with ono (D tries it and says it should be “oh-yes!”) and we pop into the bamboo store that’s too pricey to buy but delightful to look.
All in all, another good day!
