I recently added Greek to my Duolingo learning modules.
I am at the beginning, of course, trying to make my brain remember the workings of an alternate alphabet that sometimes looks deceptively like the one I know – but doesn’t act or sound like it – and sometimes is just, well, Greek.
And all that before I even get to vocabulary. Or grammar. Or, one day, maybe – pronunciation.
All the while not forgetting (or trying not to forget) my perpetually pathetic efforts to learn Spanish and to remember even a modicum of the French I studied (à l’école, au lycée et à l’université).
