Sporadicly powerless

Hurricane Irene off the Carolinas

There’s still some sporadic flooding in our area, post-Irene. (North of us it’s still bad; new floods seem to occur daily.) Here, it’s a little less dramatic. Major roads that will need significant repair. I can’t find any kind of status report or update to find out why one of the roads I take to work is still closed, even though there’s no way it flooded. Water-related erosion, maybe, but I can’t find out. Electricity is still out for a few of my colleagues, though fewer are without power each day.

Meanwhile, the last few days I’ve called (hands-free for safety!) a friend on my way to work — sometime in the last few years I lost my ability to drive without talking — and their office has been closed due to power failure.

Two business days and counting. Hmm. That’s something. And they’re not even in Montvale (see related article below from Business Insider… some things just never cease to amaze).

In any case, today’s a new day. Maybe they’ll be back on track and fully powered. If not… hoping they’re holding up, and that this enforced pause in the madness is actually something of a break, and not causing a breakdown.

We shall see.

UPDATE: They were still closed. Poor them. No wait... why does MY office have to be open?!?
